Forty in the Desert

Get to Know Mak

40 Years. 25 Questions. One Mak.

Before we celebrate 40 years, I thought I’d share a little about the person I’ve become, the people who shaped me, and why this weekend means so much. Some answers are funny, some are personal, and a few might surprise you. Welcome to my world.

Question 11 of 23

Where did you grow up?

I was raised in the Bronx, New York City. That’s where my earliest memories were made and where a lot of my personality started taking shape.

I attended Park West High School through ninth grade, and then, in the summer of 2000, my parents decided to move our family to Northeast Philadelphia.

That move ended up being a defining chapter in my life. New York gave me my foundation, but Philadelphia introduced me to experiences, friendships, and opportunities that helped shape the person I became.

A little Bronx, a little Philly. Both are part of who I am.

“The greatest gift isn’t celebrating another year of my life. It’s getting to share my life with all of you.”
